Meyer Lilac
Syringa meyeri

  Size: 4-8 feet and 1 1/2 times that in spread.

Habit: Small, dense rounded shrub. Slow growing.

Leaves: Opposite and simple, 3/4 - 1 3/4" long, elliptic-ovate.

Culture: Does well in Midwest and east, fairly mildew resistant

Utilization: Shrub border, foundation planting.

Propagation: Cuttings are very hard to root, for the best success take cuttings before end leaves mature.  Use a well drained medium and mist. More info on propagation.

Disease and Insects: Lilac borer, frost damage, leaf blight, powdery mildew.  Powdery Mildew is a fungal infection that  can be identified as white spots on the leaves. A fungicide found at any garden center is a good treatment. Baking soda is known to be a good disinfectant against fungus and mold.

Climate Range: Zone 3-8

Cultivars:

'Palibin' - Compact form that reaches 4-5 feet at maturity. Reddish purple buds open to whitish-pink flowers
