  Size: 10-15 feet with a slow growth rate

Habit: Rounded or mounding

Leaves: 1-2.5" long lustrous dark green almost blue green with spiny margins.

Culture: Well drained acid soil and partial sun or shade.

Utilization: Foundation planting, massing  and border plants.

Propagation: Stem cuttings in late spring. More info on propagation.

Disease and Insects:  Scale and spider mites.

Cultivars:

  • 'China Boy' - Compact mounded form, dark green foliage.
  • 'China Girl' - Excellent fruit production, dark green foliage.
  • Blue Stallion' - Male form with purplish stems and no spines on margins. good polluinater.
  • 'Blue Maid' - Fast growing
  • 'Blue Prince' -  Dark foliage. Most hardy of the meserve hollies.
  • 'Blue Princess' - Dense dark foliage with abundant fruit.
