Douglas Fir
Pseudotsuga menziesii

  Size: 40'-80' tall, 12'-20' wide -- up to 200' tall in the wild.

Habit: Upright, pyramidal

Leaves:needle-like  1"-1.5" angular in cross section dark to bluish green, smells of camphor when bruised.

Culture: Moist, slightly acid, well-drained soil. Does poorly in open windy,sunny areas.

Utilization: Specimen, informal screen, Christmas tree.  Excellent next to a landscape pond. Firs thrive on high humidity.

Disease and Insects: Canker, blight, aphids, scale and various moths.
